I heard that the entire country is in a state of panic after two Xiaomi SU7 autopilot crashes. Motorways have put up signs warning drivers not to use autopilot or assisted driving. Authorities and manufacturers are now trying to explain the previous false advertising.

Tesla: "First time?"

This is what Beijing government did on high speed railway system. Global railway manufactures were asked to hand over their technology, then they can begin to build, ship, and run their rolling stocks on Chinese railway. Beijing did this in early 2000s, and now they dominated the high speed railway standards in many countries.

Even though it named The Economist, it never meant to be an economic focused or academic journal.

Just like China Daily, half of that newspaper is focused on global news.

Even though I’m part of the people suffering from his election, over half of US citizens voted for him. They are the only people who can stop him. God bless America.

Your construction is wrong. Just over half of voters selected Trump, about 77 million people. There are about 244 million people that are eligible to vote, and millions more citizens than that.

(The point being, his active support is probably not quite so high as 1/2 the country)

Fewer than half of voters selected Trump.

Just my personal experience.

One of my family members who lived in China was involved in a Ponzi fraud couple years ago. They told me that when they entered the interrogation room, officers had already printed out their WeChat chatting history, even before they handed out their phone.

Well there's (at least) two people involved in a chat. They could have just gotten it from the other person.

I read it as their entire chat history.

Since the "green-blue bubble war" is almost only an US problem, they already shutdown 2G and 3G networks. What stops them to phrase out SMS and MMS entirely and replace it with RCS?

One interesting thing about this news is that, a lot of those ban in China are spoken announcements, by a phone call or a WeChat message. They never print it out and pass through the office. Thus, everyone need to follow it but there's no proof the ban exists.

Impressive. I have used laptops with Snapdragon 835 and 850. Native app and battery performance are passable. I wish Microsoft and Qualcomm could bring PCs the same portable experience as Apple Silicon devices.

Reminds me of Zeronet. It was quite popular for some time.

For the most advanced e-ink display, it offers 300 ppi.

I don't think this kind of resolution is sufficient for VR.

I know e-ink is expensive. But two tiny screens aren't THAT expensive. Someone will probably a have version of this on Hack A Day made from spares.

I have actually made a pi powered eReader with a 2.7 inch eink screen with Python. I could pretty easily swap the code over to work with the 1.3 inch screens they use here.

And no, I suck at doing write ups on my projects so I don’t have one lol. But here is the write up someone else did when they saw my post on Reddit. https://www.hackster.io/news/diy-e-reader-incorporates-mecha...

Any interest in hacking on sol reader with us?

Hi! Sorry I didn’t see this when you commented. I would definitely be interested in trying to hack on one of these

This kind of interaction is what I love about HN! :D

The only particularly cutting edge tech on this thing are the custom pancake lenses. Same optics style as in the Vision Pro and Quest 3. Those are $$$
