Same. And I recommend the audio book over the print. The format of presentation in the audio book and hearing Eckhart himself talk makes a big difference.

Curious what went wrong.

The few microservices we've built so far have been good at taking some load off of the monolith and its database, as well as at making sure that if the micro service goes down, only a small part of the customer facing app will be affected. The monolith and majority of the app would continue to function.

It was funny how this was happening on Twitter around the same time when Celestine Omin was asked to balance a Binary Tree at JFK airport.

Not wrecking bank account shouldn't be the only concern. Wrecking relationships by being absent should also be of concern.

This is time management: it is hard, but it isn't impossible.

It's impossible without a supportive partner.

I think that's a different problem.

Java, Tomcat, Maven, Spring (limited use), JSP, JavaScript, CSS, HTML, IntelliJ IDE, Jira (issue tracking), Bamboo (continuous integration), subversion.

Why Subversion?

The company is in the process of moving to git now. Subversion met their requirement fine and so for the longest time they stuck with that.

Thank you for sharing your experience. It is encouraging to read about others in our field coping, and coping well with Parkinson's. Moving to more managerial type positions does seem like a good idea.

Thank you! Thank you for linking the study.

No problem; I'm glad it was helpful.

Thank you, your experience is very encouraging.

You are getting psds of iphone's own user interface...so that you can then put the mock up of your application inside it for say client presentation or to see how your app's design looks on the iPhone or to see if your app's design meshes well with iphone's aesthetics.

I understand how this works in terms of mockups and how useful it can be - where it gets confusing is in tools like Origami which uses Facebook frameworks:

>Origami can now export code for the parts of your prototypes you used to have to tediously spec to engineers. Now with the click of a button, you can deliver your animation specs as code to your engineers that they can copy-and-paste into the project.

> This uses our _free, open source_ animation frameworks to deliver the exact same feel across all platforms. Take a look at some sample code this can generate and learn more about it.

Which runs in direct contrast with the above License:

> The Facebook Design Resources may not be embedded in any software programs or other products without express written permission.

Unless Origami isn't considered a "Facebook Design Resource" (and is a different type of resource, correct me if I'm wrong here), this seems like lawsuit bait.

what if Uber/Lyft etc let you lend your car to drivers? So instead of sitting in the parking lot, an uber driver could be driving it. Uber/Lyft could background check the drivers. I wonder if it will be worthwhile for them to provide insurance against theft. The driver would also need to be added to your personal insurance I guess....the insurance companies might eventually come up with plans specific for this type of scenarios.
