Go to your library. There should be a collection of good, illustrated, books on all sorts of home maintenance projects. All well written and illustrated by people who know what they are doing.

You could also find the same at a local book seller.

Find one that covers the sort of tasks you need to perform and explains/shows things in a way you understand.

When you find one your really like, get a copy to keep.
