Fun fact: this was the same complaint early Christians had about Roman art, and was dubbed "the Fig Leaf Campaign" for the unanimous fig leaf censorship that supposedly de-pornified the great early pieces that were definitely porn.

So, broadly speaking, I don't think this is a new trend. Is it maybe an anthropological impossibility that society can exist without fetishizing it's own existence?
