I can see smaller charging stations becoming a thing. Traditional "Gas Stations" are on the way out; they will be around for a long time but the clock is ticking. But that doesn't mean that people won't need those services, just that it won't be tied to filling up with petrol. I can see a future where almost everywhere you go a small charging station will be installed. Grocery store? Get a quick top-up while you grab some milk and bread. Hitting the gym for a late afternoon workout? Plug in and charge while you sweat! The corner gas station will probably go away, but it will be replaced by chargers everywhere.
The idea of using a smaller, self contained, charging station makes even more sense when you think about cars with less range. Imagine 1 or 2 spots in a state park or a local pizza joint. Suddenly, you're 100 mile range isn't so limiting!
