I think this would only work if you are a well established leader with a lot of social capital in the company. I would seriously doubt if the cooperation/quality of the answers would be there if you are walking into a new team without demonstrated core competence, trying to be a boss and asking someone to teach you things at the same time.


On the contrary. Talking to people, finding out what they think is important, and acting on it, is the best way to build cooperation and capital.


Sure, sounds good when you are a peer. Why would I want to report to one that had to be trained? Why would one get to be my boss when he does not have the competence?
